Improving the work of Border Veterinary Inspectors

A two-day workshop was held in Vrnjačka Banja on November 18–19, 2024, for 16 representatives of the Border Veterinary Inspection of Serbia. The workshop aimed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their work and followed a study visit conducted in September 2024 in cooperation with the Netherlands' Food Safety and Consumer Protection Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the legislative framework of the European Union related to border veterinary inspection. Discussions also covered the minimum requirements for infrastructure, equipment, and documentation at border crossings where such inspections are conducted, both in the EU and in Serbia.

On the second day, attendees focused on potential improvements to existing procedures and processes for Serbian border veterinary inspectors. The final session was dedicated to preparing concrete proposals to enhance current practices, incorporating knowledge and experiences gained during the visit to the Netherlands.

The workshop was organized as part of the "EU Support for Efficient Border Management" project, funded by the European Union.
